Last week’s site visit of The Principal London left me very impressed with the refurbishment so far (although the ballroom is still work in progress).
Thank goodness they decided to spend money on new windows – this is an area so many hotels try and save money on! Even in a busy City, I love an option to open my bedroom window for fresh air. When closed, the bedrooms are quiet and there is no longer the draft or whistling through the gaps guests previously experienced.

Bathrooms have been totally lifted, many have natural daylight (always a luxury in hotels) with great sanitary ware and clean white tiling with a hint of colour. The bedrooms have excellent quality fittings and the ‘old girl’ with her historic and elegant staircase is looking fabulous. I just love walking through those lovely light and airy wide corridors.
The other amazing thing 5* hotels take note! They have a coffee shop that charges high street charges, in the Director of Sales words ‘none of your £6.00+ for a cup of coffee here’.
Looking forward to watching the hotel’s success – well done Principal London!
